This information is as of Aug. 2023.
Greetings from Nagoya, Japan! I’m a Japanese blogger with a passion for sharing unique travel experiences.
Today, let’s dive into one of the most fascinating stops for car enthusiasts and curious travelers alike: the Toyota Automobile Museum in Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture.
Why visit the Toyota Automobile Museum?
Located just east of Nagoya, the Toyota Automobile Museum offers far more than a brand showcase.
While it’s connected to the Toyota name, the museum’s heart lies in the global history of automobiles and automobile culture — featuring cars from around the world and across many decades.
Here’s what makes it special:
- Over 140 vehicles from the late 19th century to modern times.
- A rich “Automobile Culture” section with roughly 4,000 automotive‑related items (miniature cars, posters, badges, etc.).
- Free audio guide app in multiple languages + English‑speaking staff available.
- Free parking and very good access by public transport
Whether you’re a gearhead, a design lover, or simply looking for an off‑beat but engaging cultural stop near Nagoya — this museum ticks a lot of boxes.
