I recently visited the "TOYOTA Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology", located in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture.
Let me show you what you can expect there.


🚗 What is the TOYOTA Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology?

This museum offers a fascinating look into the history and innovation behind TOYOTA — from its roots in textile machinery to its evolution into one of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers.

While the museum also features a large section on textile machines, this blog focuses on the automobile exhibits.


🕒 Hours & Admission

  • Opening Hours: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Last admission at 4:30 PM)
  • Closed: Mondays (or the following day if Monday is a national holiday), and during the year-end/New Year holidays

  • Adults: 500 yen
  • Tickets can be purchased at the entrance

  • 🚕 Taxi: ~5 minutes from Nagoya Station
  • 🚆 Train: 3 minutes on foot from Sako Station (Meitetsu line)
  • 🚌 Bus: Take the Me~guru Nagoya Sightseeing Bus from Nagoya Station (Bus Terminal No. 11) and get off right in front of the museum
  • 🚗 Car: Free parking available on site!

Upon entering the Automobile Pavilion, you'll be greeted by robot musicians that once performed at the 2005 Aichi Expo. While they don’t perform anymore, they’re still impressive to see.

The museum does an amazing job showing how modern cars are made. Here are a few areas I found especially interesting:

    Visitors can press a button to trigger a demonstration of the car painting process — a great hands-on way to understand how cars are coated.

    You can even make a small plastic toy car and take it home! (I waited about 20 minutes on a Sunday)
